Hi! I'm Andy Franck, a math, physics, and computer science student at Occidental.
My interests revolve around the convergence of applied math and computer science, particularly in deep/machine learning, signal processing, and computer vision. Beyond that, I'm passionate about leveraging my knowledge of physics and math in the fields of computer graphics & simulations, game engine design, and computational physics.
When I'm not working a problem, you can find me surfing, skiing, or out on the baseball diamond--I'm also a catcher at Oxy.
Technical Skills
I have four years of experience in Python, MATLAB, C++, and C#, as well as four years developing in Unity Game Engine. I also bring a year of experience working in Java, and am actively expanding my skills in React TypeScript, and Mathematica.
I am proficient in Git, GitKraken, Unix/Linux, Bash, and LaTeX, with a strong background in data analytics and visualization using Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib. Additionally, I have developed various deep learning models using TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch, as well as a custom, fully NumPy-based deep learning library available here: MyTorch.Mathematical Background
Vector calculus, advanced/computational/applied linear algebra, differential equations, discrete mathematics, numerical optimization, abstract algebra/group theory, and information theory.
Physics coursework in classical mechanics, electromagnetism, computer simulations, dynamics, vector calculus, and Fourier analysis.Graduate level studies in numerical optimization, mathematics of machine learning, and theory of deep learning, as well as graduate research in signal processing--analysing human eye ultrasounds to detect and diagnose retinal diseases, available here.Education
